Virtual CISO (vCISO)

Senior security leadership, part-time, at a fraction of the cost of a full-time executive.

A Chief Information Security Officer sets direction, owns security risk, and answers to leadership, customers, and auditors. Most growing businesses need that role long before they can justify hiring one full-time. A virtual CISO gives you that leadership on a predictable monthly basis.

Who it is for

  • Companies of roughly 20 to 250 employees with no dedicated security leader
  • Businesses winning larger customers who expect a named security owner
  • Organizations maintaining SOC 2, HIPAA, or similar obligations year over year
  • Founders and CEOs who want security handled by someone accountable

What you get

  • Security strategy and roadmap aligned to your business goals and budget
  • Risk management, including a maintained risk register and regular risk reviews
  • Leadership and board reporting in business terms
  • Policy and program ownership, kept current as you grow
  • Vendor and third-party risk oversight
  • Customer security questionnaires and audit support
  • Incident response planning and a senior advisor to call when something goes wrong

How it works

Engagements typically begin with a Security Risk Assessment to establish a baseline. From there, we agree on a monthly scope, a regular meeting cadence, and the priorities for the first 90 days. Scope can grow or shrink as your needs change.

Good to know

A vCISO provides leadership, governance, and advice. Day-to-day IT administration and 24/7 monitoring stay with your IT team or managed service provider, and we work closely with them.
